Back in July 2022, our client contacted us about our door supply and fit services. They wished to replace their existing door with a more secure and modern Origin bifold. Initially, the customer wanted an Origin patio slider, but a crane would’ve been needed to lift the glass up to the third-floor flat. However, the local council wouldn’t allow a permit as the outside road is a red route. Therefore, our surveyor suggested a bifold, as the glass units are not as big and heavy, allowing us to carry them up the internal staircase.

The client chose a 5-door Origin bifold door set from the OB49 range. With sightlines of just 110mm, these sleek designs allow more natural sunlight to enter the room and extended views from the property – ideal for our customer’s third-floor apartment!

The Results

Our installers removed the existing door and replaced it with a dark silver Origin OB49 bifold door. The job required six men on site as it was a third-floor flat with no lift in the building. Our experienced installers carefully carried the five bifold doors and glass up winding staircases, ensuring we took care of the property throughout the installation.

Our customer was very impressed with how well and professional our installers worked as a team, completing the challenging job while protecting their home.

Any challenges?

The glass from the existing door couldn’t be removed easily, so it had to be carefully dismantled and broken on the balcony, taking the pieces down safely in buckets. Our installers wore safety gloves and goggles throughout while making sure the floor was well protected to avoid damage.

As this property was a lived-in home, the job had to be completed in one day, ensuring the property remained safe and secure.
